About this Talk

Three new Penal codes seek to modernise India's current legal framework for criminal law. They aim to overhaul and reform the criminal justice system in India -

  1. The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA) will replace the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
  2. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS) will replace the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC) .
  3. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) will replace the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPC).

This course by Prof. G S Bajpai and Mr Sanjay Vashishtha explains the changes brought about by the BNS, BNSS and BSA. The course provides an overview of how these new codes transform the substantive and procedural criminal law.
