Accounting and Financial Statements
This course is part of a program and cannot be purchased individually.
The introductory Accounting and Financial Statements course gives students of corporate law an essential understanding of finance. A law student must understand numbers while making any assessment or diligence exercise. The course would cover training in the following areas:
- Understanding balance sheets
- Rules of accounting
- Different kinds of statements prepared
- Trial balance
- Statements as per Schedule III of the Companies Act, 2013
The course helps one gain an edge as a corporate lawyer in dealing with accounting-related issues. This will also give you an insight into the financial matters of a company. The basic understanding will help non-accounting personnel learn elementary aspects and gain comprehensive knowledge of corporate affairs.
The live sessions will help you understand and find ways to detect anomalies in the statement. The goal of this course is not to make you an expert in accounts but to have a fundamental understanding so that you don't miss reports and statements received from internal and external auditors or accountants.
Simple mock exercises are given so that you understand the rules of accounting and relevant heads under the Schedule III of the Companies Act, 2013. You will gradually become more familiar with accounting practices, but, as a beginner, the expectation is that you learn to read the statements and reports.
