About this Course

Corporate meetings are significant in the development and efficient management of an organisation. As we know, a company is a separate entity from that of its members. Since it cannot act on its own, the members who constitute it take important decisions on its behalf. At the same time, it must ensure that its stakeholders are given an opportunity to participate in discussions that impact the organisation. Meetings give the members, directors, shareholders and other stakeholders an opportunity to express their opinions and concerns with regard to the management of the company’s affairs. Strategic planning, policy decisions, evaluation of stakeholders’ interests are some of the key issues that are taken up during the meetings. Corporate meetings, unlike regular business meetings, call for a more structured and detailed compliance under the Companies Act. This course discusses the meaning, definition and classification of ‘meetings’ under the Companies Act.

Board meetings should not be for the benefit of the board. They should be for the benefit of the CEO and the senior team.

If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be “meetings”.
